Larchmont's clubs put the ceremony on a lawn that runs to the water and the reception in a room with windows on the same view. So the decor edits itself: the ceremony turns so the Sound is beside the couple rather than behind them, two grounded urns leave the horizon clear, the chart stays out of the window, and the room's palette is borrowed from outside, navy and white and coral. The Sound's evening light is cool, so the flowers run warm and the uplights run amber. And every candle on a terrace sits in a hurricane, because the breeze off the water at four is normal.

Half of Larchmont's wedding photos are taken on the rocks at Manor Park, in wind, with salt air, an hour before the ceremony. The bouquet is the only flower in those pictures, so it carries the whole design: built sturdy, wired where anything is weak, wrapped so the ribbon behaves, and delivered in water so it's fresh when it's held up against the Sound.
