A consultation, a deep dive into your design details, a walk-through of your venue where it helps, and a concept with palette, floor plan and stem list. When a design hangs on something a photograph won't settle, we'll mock the piece up, in our showroom or at the venue.

What a Wedding Designer Does That a Florist Doesn't
It starts with a word, not a photo
We ask for the word before we look at the board. "Overgrown." "My grandmother's dining room." "The inside of a Negroni." The word becomes the filter, and every decision after it, linen, font, candle, chair, flower, gets one question: does it belong to the word? Half of design is saying no to things that are perfectly nice and don't belong. The other half is making six vendors agree without any of them knowing they did, which is mostly phone calls, and which is exactly why it doesn't fit on a florist's invoice.
Mockups, when the design calls for one
Photographs flatten everything: color, texture, and how tall a centerpiece actually feels when you're sitting across a table from someone. So when a decision hangs on something a picture won't settle, we build the thing. Sometimes that's a centerpiece in the showroom with the real vessel and the real candle heights, so you can look at it and tell us it's four inches too tall. Sometimes it has to happen at the venue, because a ceremony piece only makes sense standing under that ceiling in that light. It's worth asking for on a large wedding, where one decision repeats across every table — a ballroom in White Plains might have twenty-six of them — and a small mistake repeats with it. Ask us and we'll tell you honestly whether your design needs one.
Planner, florist, designer: who does what
The planner runs the day: contracts, timeline, the bus that's late. A florist makes the flowers. The designer owns the look across every vendor, from the wedding flowers in Westchester in your hand to the wedding draping and lighting that decides what color those flowers are at nine, and the wedding décor rentals under all of it. If you have a planner, we work beside them and most good planners in the county will tell you they prefer it. If your florist thinks in rooms, you may already have a designer and not know it. Ask to see a whole wedding, not just the flowers, and ask who talked to the stationer. That's the tell, whether the wedding is at an estate in Chappaqua or a club in Armonk.

Do we still need a planner if we hire you for full design?
For the day-of logistics, contracts and timeline, yes, or a very organized friend. We own the look; a planner owns the clock. We work happily alongside them.
What does full design cost compared to flowers alone?
More, because it includes draping, lighting, rentals and the coordination hours. The proposal shows every section separately so you can see what full design adds and remove pieces if you'd rather.
Do you design events other than weddings?
Yes. Mitzvahs, corporate galas, engagement parties and milestone celebrations get the same process.
How early should we book full design?
Twelve months for a peak Saturday. Nine is workable. If you'd like a mockup, say so early, since we'd want to build it well before the final flower order goes in.
