An all-white wedding in a grand ballroom is the hardest kind to get right, because there's no color to hide behind and every stem has to be perfect. This one was built on three gestures: a double floral arch over the sweetheart table, a staircase garland that carried the bride's entrance from the top landing to the floor, and tall floral clouds on crystal candelabras so the room read full from the doors. White roses, hydrangea and baby's breath did all of it, in different densities, and candlelight did the rest.
The staircase was the piece guests remembered. It took three hours to hang and came down in twenty minutes, which is the way of most of the best things we build.
